69.
21 Standard Header File Directories

 70.

GCC_INCLUDE_DIR
means the same thing for native and cross. It is
 71. where GCC stores its private include files, and also where GCC
 72. stores the fixed include files. A cross compiled GCC runs
 73.
fixincludes
on the header files in <samp>$(tooldir)/include</samp>.
 74. (If the cross compilation header files need to be fixed, they must be
 75. installed before GCC is built. If the cross compilation header files
 76. are already suitable for GCC, nothing special need be done).
 77.

 78.

GPLUSPLUS_INCLUDE_DIR
means the same thing for native and cross. It
 79. is where
g++
looks first for header files. The C++ library
 80. installs only target independent header files in that directory.
 81.

 82.

LOCAL_INCLUDE_DIR
is used only by native compilers. GCC
 83. doesn’t install anything there. It is normally
 84. <samp>/usr/local/include</samp>. This is where local additions to a packaged
 85. system should place header files.
 86.

 87.

CROSS_INCLUDE_DIR
is used only by cross compilers. GCC
 88. doesn’t install anything there.
 89.

 90.

TOOL_INCLUDE_DIR
is used for both native and cross compilers. It
 91. is the place for other packages to install header files that GCC will
 92. use. For a cross-compiler, this is the equivalent of
 93. <samp>/usr/include</samp>. When you build a cross-compiler,
 94.
fixincludes
processes any header files in this directory.
